Boules, also known as petanque, is a very popular parlor game of skill in France. It involves throwing metal balls from a designated circle. Interest in boules is also growing steadily in Poland, primarily in parks and unpaved squares. Petanque can be played on any flat surface that allows for free play (grass, asphalt, parquet).
Each pair of balls is engraved with a different design to easily identify each player. A strong nylon case with a zipper and handle makes it easy to store and transport the entire set. Everything you need is included.
Set composition:
• 2 chrome-plated steel balls - weight 720 g (+/- 20 g), diameter 73 mm
• 1 wooden ball with a diameter of approx. 3.0 cm - "pig"
• string for measuring distances - tape measure
• case for carrying the balls
• game instructions in Polish
• packaging dimensions: 7.5 x 7.5 x 17 cm
• weight: ~1.5 kg
What the game is about:
The sport version of boules, as a discipline, is called Petanque and is played by two teams:
• 3 players against 3 players, then called Triplette
• 2 Players vs. 2 Players called Dublette
• 1 Player vs. 1 Player called Tate-a-tete
The starting team is chosen by tossing a coin. One player from the first team chooses the starting spot and draws a circle on the ground with a diameter of no less than 35 cm and no more than 50 cm.
The first player, standing with both feet in the drawn circle, throws the pig a distance of approximately 6 to 10 m, keeping a distance of 1 m from obstacles (walls, trees, bushes).
The starting player throws the boule as close to the jack as possible. Both feet of the thrower must be inside the circle and in contact with the ground until the boule touches the ground.
A player on the opposing team stands in a circle and tries to place their boule closer to the jack than their opponent or to knock out their opponent's boules. The boule closer to the jack leads.
The team whose boule is furthest from the jack after the first round of throws continues to play. They continue to do this until they place their boule closer to the jack or they can forfeit their turn.
When the losing team runs out of balls or forfeits their turn, the opposing team tries to place the rest of their balls closer to the jack or forfeits their turn.
When both teams have no more boules, points are tallied. The winning team receives as many points as the number of boules they placed closer to the jack than the opposing team.
The player from the winning team throws the jackpot. The first team to score 13 points wins.
Any deviations from the above regulations are permitted in order to improve the fun.
