Cross-country racers expect a combination of qualities from their equipment: speed without stiffness, flexibility without fragility, and tank-like grip without the weight of a tank. When it comes to tires, it's often been a case of sacrificing one feature for another. No more. The new WTB Macro 2.4" tire bucks this trend. It rolls fast, bites into corners precisely, and deflects even the sharpest rocks thanks to its SG puncture protection.

The Macro's centerline consists of small, tightly spaced blocks that provide force, resulting in unmatched speed and traction under braking. When leaning into a corner, wider spacing and raised outer blocks provide confident grip when you need it most. Combine this dynamic tread with a wide, rounded profile and the ability to run lower air pressures, and you have an incredibly capable tire that delivers a perfectly smooth transition when entering and cornering.

"There are several good XC tires on the market that excel in certain areas," said WTB Product Vision and OEM Director Johs Huseby. "Some are fast in a straight line, some are good in the corners, some are lightweight, and some offer solid protection. The Macro combines all of these qualities in one tire."

The true 2.4” is 62mm wide and weighs just 732g (120 tpi in black with SG protection).

Part of the secret is WTB's SG puncture protection, made of rubberized nylon fabric that protects the sidewalls without sacrificing flexibility. The use of flat fibers in the SG barrier reduces weight compared to traditional round fibers and allows WTB to further fine-tune the ride characteristics.

Sustainably packaged and available now

All new WTB tires are packaged with 100% recycled materials and are plastic-free. The Macro is available now at WTB.com and at dealers in the US, and will hit shelves across Europe by the end of July. The Macro is available in black and brown sidewall colors.

TRITEC

TriTec combines three different rubber compounds to provide varying levels of grip, support, and durability depending on their placement in the tread. The high-durability rubber underpins the entire tread pattern, extending slightly into the base of each lug to provide additional support beneath the softer compounds used in the rest of each lug. The center lugs are made of a medium-durability compound that provides grip and durability without sacrificing rolling performance, while the outer lugs are made of the softest compound for maximum grip and a slow rebound.

A harder, faster, and more efficient tread compound is used in the centerline of the tire. The sides and lateral knobs are coated with a softer compound designed to be compliant yet trail-worthy.
