Designed to improve upon the beloved Trail Boss 2.25, the wider Trail Boss 2.4/2.6 builds on perfection with a more aggressive tread pattern to match its increased width. Wide spacing between the large knobs provides improved traction in loose or wet conditions. Large, supportive side knobs dig deep into the road, whether leaning into a corner or braking. Most often used as a rear tire, the Trail Boss 2.4 also provides excellent traction as a front tire on paved trails.

Optimal rim width inside: 25-35 mm

Application: Trail, Enduro
Surface: Loose on hard, Dirty, rocky

FUNCTIONS

Some tires are semi-slick and fast, while others are chunky and bite into the ground. The Trail Boss is somewhere in between, designed as a medium-terrain tire. The tight center knob cluster reduces rolling resistance, allowing them to dig in under braking. The tall outer knobs provide traction in the earliest stages of cornering.

- The center blocks are cut in a direction that improves traction under acceleration and braking by increasing the number of working edges that bite into the trail when you pedal or apply the brakes. The outer blocks have cuts that run parallel to the tire for better cornering traction.

The Trail Boss 2.4/2.6 features grooved knobs that maximize traction under braking, and their relatively tight spacing improves rear tire life by increasing the total surface area to counteract strong braking forces. Larger, lateral knobs extend beyond the tire's sidewall, protecting it from cuts during rear-wheel steering. We recommend pairing the Trail Boss 2.4/2.6 with the Vigilante 2.5/2.6 up front.

- TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) is WTB's standardized tubeless system. These tires feature a TCS tubeless casing that virtually eliminates punctures and allows for lower tire pressures for improved traction and comfort compared to a traditional tubed tire.

TRITEC

TriTec combines three different rubber compounds to provide varying levels of grip, support, and durability depending on their placement in the tread. The high-durability rubber underpins the entire tread pattern, extending slightly into the base of each lug to provide additional support beneath the softer compounds used in the rest of each lug. The center lugs are made of a medium-durability compound that provides grip and durability without sacrificing rolling performance, while the outer lugs are made of the softest compound for maximum grip and a slow rebound.

TOUGH

Two full casing layers extend from bead to bead to provide a more puncture-resistant tire surface. The use of two layers of casing also provides additional sidewall support during cornering and allows riders to experience increased traction at lower pressures than would be possible with thinner, single-ply casings. TCS Tough tires are a reliable choice for aggressive, enduro, gravity, and e-bike riders seeking maximum peace of mind on the trail. Some riders may opt for a TCS Tough tire on the rear while also enjoying the weight savings of a single-ply TCS Light tire on the front.
